Q) What Size do I need?
For cats, we recommend the Neater Feeder Express for Cats or the Neater Feeder Original for Cats.
For small dogs under 18 lbs., we recommend the Neater Feeder Express for Small Dogs or the Neater Feeder Deluxe for Small Dogs. (Breed Examples: Yorkie, Chihuahua, Lhasa Apso, Dachshund, Toy Poodle, Small Pug)
For medium dogs weighing 18-35 lbs., we recommend the Neater Feeder Express for Medium to Large Dogs (Breed Examples: Beagle, Jack Russell, Cocker Spaniel, Bulldog)
For large dogs weighing over 35 lbs., we recommend the Neater Feeder Express for Medium to Large Dogs or the Neater Feeder Original for Large Dogs. (Breed Examples: Lab, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Mastiff)
For pets over 100 lbs., we highly recommend the Neater Feeder Deluxe for Large Dogs.
Two things to consider when deciding on a size is how much your pet eats/drink and how tall they are. Keep in mind the some dogs are tall & skinny, while others are short & heavy. For taller pets or really messy pets, we recommend the Neater Feeder Deluxe. We also suggest asking your veterinarian what feeding height they recommend for your pet and how much to feed your pet.
Q) Do I need to purchase Leg Extensions?
A) An elevated feeding height helps reduce strain on your petís neck and back. The leg extensions can increase the feeding height of the Neater Feeder Original for Cats or the Neater Feeder Deluxe for Small Dogs from 3î to 4.5î and can increase the feeding height of the Neater Feeder Deluxe for Large dogs from 8î to 11î. We suggest asking your veterinarian what feeding height they recommend for your pet. The small leg extensions fit the Cat and Small Deluxe Neater Feeders and the large leg extensions fit the Large Neater Feeder Deluxe. (Please note the leg extensions are not available for the Neater Feeder Express)
Q) Can you add more than one set of leg extensions to a Neater Feeder?
A) No. Only one set of leg extensions can be added to each Neater Feeder Deluxe. We suggest asking your veterinarian what feeding height they recommend for your pet. The small leg extensions fit the Cat and Small Deluxe Neater Feeders, and the large leg extensions fit the Large Neater Feeder Deluxe. (Please note the leg extensions only fit the Deluxe Neater Feeder)
Q) How do I clean my Neater Feeder?
A) One of the first things you'll notice about the Neater Feeder is that it was designed for easy cleaning. All of the surfaces are smooth and the corners are rounded. All of the parts and bowls are dishwasher-safe and can also be cleaned by hand. Always be sure to rinse your feeder well if cleaning by hand to maintain the safest, most sanitary environment for your pet.
Q) What if my pet isn't messy?
A) We've had many people tell us their pet isn't very messy, but they like the idea of the Neater Feeder because they, or other members of their household, create a mess either by accidentally bumping into the water bowl or even by just placing the bowl on the floor or in an elevated feeder. They also like how the Neater Feeder keeps the bowl area neat and organized. Remember, the Neater Feeder is not just mess proof, it is also elevated to help reduce strain on your petís neck and back.
Q) What's the best method for disposing of spilled food and spilled water?
A) The Neater Feeder makes disposing of spilled food and water fast and easy. Spilled water collects in the lower reservoir, so simply lift off the upper reservoir and place it on the floor. You can then dump the contents of the lower reservoir in the nearest sink. If there is more spilled food in the upper reservoir than is easy to pick up by hand, you can remove the bowls from the upper reservoir and then pour the spilled food from the upper reservoir either back into the food bowl or into the trash.
Q) How often should I check the lower reservoir?
A) The lower reservoir can hold more than a full bowl of water, so inspect and dispose of spills according to your individual experience. Depending on the pet and the owner, the amount of water in the reservoir will vary. You will likely find more water during the hot months when your pet is drinking more. When you first use your Neater Feeder, check every day or so to get a sense of your pet's needs.
Q) What if my pet is afraid of new things?
A) A pet that is shy or fearful of new things may be apprehensive approaching any new feeder. In these situations, we suggest placing the Neater Feeder next to your pet's existing bowls or feeder for a couple of days so they can slowly get used to it. Place food and water in both the Neater Feeder and the old bowls. If your pet goes right to the Neater Feeder you can remove the old bowls. In the rare occasion they do not, use both until your pet is comfortable with The Neater Feeder. Of course, you can always try encouraging a reluctant pet with a treat.
Most pets that have tried the Neater Feeder have been very comfortable with it. In fact, we've found that the Neater Feeder's protective walls seem to provide feeding pets with a sense of security while they are eating.
Q) How do I know if a customer has an Express or Original?
A) A good way to figure this out is ask the color of the top of the feeder. The Deluxe will be bronze or cranberry and the Express will be the light tan color.
Q) Does the GETNEATERFEEDER.COM website match our call center offers?
A) Yes
Polar Bowls FAQ
Q) How long do you have to leave the Polar Bowl in the freezer for the gel core to get cold enough?
A) A couple hours. If you purchase 2, you can rotate them in and out of the freezer so your pet always has cold water
Q) How long will the water stay cold?
A) A few hours, but it varies depending on the room temperature
Q) Can you put it in the dish washer?
A) Yes, but be very careful when removing it, as it gets very hot
Q) Why is one bowl bigger than the other?
A) The Deluxe Neater Feeder comes with a standard food bowl and an extra capacity water bowl. Big food bowls can lead to overeating, but a big water bowl keeps your pet well hydrated! Thatís why the Deluxe Neater Feeder has a regular sized food bowl and an extra large water bowl.
Q) Why is one of the bowls too big to fit?
A) If one of the bowls does not fit, the top of the Neater Feeder is probably upside down. For shipping purposes, youíll find the top bowl containment section of the system placed upside down over the bottom section. To use the system, simply turn the top section right side up (youíll see the Neater Feeder logo embossed on the back wall when youíre holding the top part correctly), set it on the water catch basin, and place the bowls inside their openings. You will notice the front of each part is curved, so be sure the curve on the top section is aligned with the curve of the bottom section. When the feeder is set up correctly, the extra capacity water bowl will fit into the hole.
Q) Can cats and small dogs comfortably reach the bowls?
A) The Neater Feeder was designed with your pet's comfort in mind. The front wall is contoured toward the bowls and the archway in the lower reservoir provides space for their paws so your pet can stand right up to the feeder.
Q) Can I order additional bowls?
A) Yes, additional bowls are available at www.neaterfeeder.com or by calling 877-917-PETS.
Q) Are there deeper bowls available?
